How to Lower the Dew Point of a Screw Air Compressor Refrigerated Air Dryer?
Jun 28 , 2025

Screw air compressor refrigerated air dryers are mainly divided into two types: refrigerated and adsorption-type. The most common one is the refrigerated air dryer (referred to as a "cold dryer"), which is one of the post-processing equipment frequently used by many customers when operating screw air compressors. So, what exactly is the function of a refrigerated air dryer?

The primary role of a refrigerated air dryer is to remove moisture from compressed air. Under normal circumstances, the lowest dew point of a refrigerated air dryer is 2°C. However, in actual use, many users measure a dew point far higher than this value, which can easily damage the cold dryer equipment. So, how can we lower the dew point of the cold dryer? Essentially, to reduce the dew point, the equipment simply needs to operate under normal working conditions:

1. Inlet Pressure

The inlet pressure should generally not be too low or too high. Of course, most users pay attention to this during the selection process. However, during operation, screw air compressors may encounter situations requiring pressure adjustments, which can lead to a poorer dew point in the refrigerated air dryer.

2. Operating Ambient Temperature

Ventilation is crucial when installing a refrigerated air dryer. If the inlet temperature exceeds 38°C, the refrigerated air dryer is prone to overload. Maintaining good ventilation can effectively prevent this issue.
