How to Layout an Air Compressor Pipe

Air compressor duct layout is a very technical job, and there are many factors to consider, here are some basic principles and recommendations:

1.Pipeline material selection: high-quality steel should be selected in line with national standards, with good pressure resistance and corrosion resistance, and can withstand the high pressure and high temperature of compressed air. The welding should be firm and sealed, and there should be no cracks and pores.

2.Calculation of pipe diameter: The selection of pipe diameter is directly related to the transmission effect of air flow of air compressor. In general, the larger the diameter of the pipe, the lower the resistance and the greater the flow of air to be transmitted. Choosing the right size pipe diameter for different needs can reduce the pressure loss when the air flows.

3.Pipe Layout: Pipes should be equipped with drainage facilities to promptly remove condensation water and oil sludge inside the pipes. The main compressed air pipeline should be suspended along the wall or column, with its height not hindering the normal operation of equipment and being convenient for maintenance. Long pipes have a cooling effect on the flow of hot air, causing water vapor in the air to condense into water. To facilitate the drainage of condensation water, the pipes should be sloped in the direction of the air flow, with a slope of 1/100 to 3/100.

4.Pipeline support and fixation: Reasonable design of pipeline support and fixing devices to ensure that the pipeline will not shake or deform during operation, and ensure the stability of the system.

5.Regular maintenance and inspection: Regularly clean, rust and paint the pipeline to ensure long-lasting and stable performance. At the same time, regularly inspect pipeline connections and support devices to identify and deal with potential problems in a timely manner.

6.Pressure management: The pressure drop of the piping pipeline shall not exceed 5% of the operating pressure of the air compressor, so it is best to use a pipeline larger than the design value when piping. The branch line must be connected from the top of the main line to avoid the condensation in the main line from flowing into the working machinery or back into the air compressor.

7.Annular transmission pipeline: For factories with relatively many gas consumption points, annular gas supply pipelines can be laid, and the pipe diameter of the main pipeline is thickened to two to three times the diameter of the air compressor outlet pipe, so that the delivery volume of compressed air can be guaranteed, and a specific gas consumption point can be used to obtain compressed air supply from both directions.

8.Pipeline connection: The connection of compressed air pipelines should be welded except for flange or threaded connections at equipment, valves, etc.

9.Pipeline installation: Pipeline installation should be carried out by a construction unit with relevant qualifications, and the construction should be carried out in strict accordance with the design requirements to ensure the smoothness, sealing and stability of the pipeline.

10.Pipeline inspection: After the installation of the pipeline is completed, a pressure test should be carried out to ensure that the tightness and pressure resistance of the pipeline meet the requirements.
